We have been busy clearing the ivy from the chimney which has proved to be harder than we first thought.

Ivy removal

Eventually we employed a portable winch, this stripped around 20 foot of ivy off the structure. The mortar work is surprisingly well preserved.

Next task is to erect scaffolding on the higher parts to remove the remaining material

And expose the brickwork and assess the damage and if necessary replace bricks.
