Cassiterite from an Obscure Mine on Bodmin Moor

P1090581P1090580P1090579P1090586You always hope when out collecting to find that special mineral.

It happens now and again.

This specimen is one of those moments. I have spent hours on this site digging and collected zilch. This large granite/quartz vein specimen was sitting partially buried at the edge of the dump. Something made me look down at an earthy brown mass which has cleaned up nicely.

Another cassiterite location ticked off.
