A new acquisition to my collection and old time Calcite. It was from a Northern Carolina collection. Looking at the condition of the specimen it has no dinks leading me to the conclusion it was collected underground when the mine was active.

Nice. calcite!
Congrars. I hope all is well.

Hard mineral to find, very little evidence of calcite on the dumps.
Specimens in collections must have come straight from underground at the time of mining.
Hi Richard,
I’m no mineral expert but that’s a beautiful specimen.
Best Regards,
David.
Hi David,
Thank you, not a common mineral from Herodsfoot.
Its the first one I have seen for sale in ages had to add to the collection!
Hi Richard,
Can I prevail on your expertise? Found a broken flint high on the New Forest, (where flints are normal!) with crystal inside…. very unusual here.
What mineral might this be?

Hi David,
I have been locked out of my site for ages today it worked!!.
The crystals are quartz very common to see this type of formation in the UK.
Very wet here.
