Starting work on the old mine site

We moved into Minehouse Farm in May 2009.
The house was originally the Count house for Herodsfoot mine.
The house being built at the time of the last working of the mine which lasted from 1845 up to the 1890’s. In this time the mine being worked as a cost book company paid dividends regularly.
The site has largely been untouched although the buildings are covered with ivy they have stood the ravages of time well.
Our aim is to stabilise the engine house, boiler house, crusher house and powder store. The biggest problem being lintels all of which have rotted out.
These will be the first priority.
